Changing lives by inspiring, educating, and connecting the next generation of leaders!

Chicago Tech Academy (ChiTech), a non-profit, 4-year contract school located in University Village, was founded to inspire, educate and connect the next generation of leaders. ChiTech also seeks to increase the number of minority and low income students that pursue science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) in college and careers.

Founded in 2009 by the Mayor’s Office of the City of Chicago, the Mayor’s Council of Technology Advisors, the Chicago Workforce Investment Council, the Department of Technology and Innovation, and the Illinois Technology Association, ChiTech opened its doors to 150 freshman students. Today, ChiTech has expanded, and has just graduated our third senior class!

We are Chicago’s technology and entrepreneurship high school and we do things differently here. From day one, ChiTech has mobilized the city’s thriving tech industry to support these young leaders by providing leadership, financial support, and a dedicated corps of volunteers and mentors. We use project based learning, entrepreneurial principles, and real world experience with Chicago companies to shape the diverse next generation of technology leaders. Students at ChiTech learn how to be innovative and how to solve real problems while learning 21st century skills like Ruby, HTML, CSS, and Javascript. The type of exposure, high expectations, and career and college preparation that our students receive is all a part of the ChiTech experience!
